Accused white supremacist to serve probation
One of four men charged after a series of incidents police say targeted gays and non-whites early this year will be spared jail time.
Keith Virgil Decu, 33, pleaded guilty Thursday to a charge of causing a disturbance. A provincial court judge ordered him to pay a $50 surcharge and spend two years on probation. Further charges of assault, criminal harassment, and mischief were withdrawn.
Two other men charged in this case were sentenced to jail time earlier this fall. David Roger Goodman, 19, was given a 15-month jail term, while James Andrew Brooks, 26, was sentenced to 13 months behind bars. The fourth, Jason Anthony Anderson, 33, is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in April, on two counts of criminal harassment, two counts of assault, and one count each of mischief, and causing a disturbance.
The charges stemmed from incidents at two bars in the Whyte Avenue area, where police say customers were harrassed about race and sexual orientation. Two men and a woman were assaulted, according to EPS.
