And here I was thinking it was a labor union rep that endorsed him, which of course would have made no sense at all.

Exactly what I thought. Apparently this paper is real good at investigative reporting with blurbs like this mouth full of marbles;
“We are in critical need of the innovative, forward-looking strategy and positive leadership that Gingrich has shown he is capable of providing,” the newspaper wrote in an editorial that was as much a promotion of Gingrich as a discreet rebuke of Romney.
I think they are delusional. Or liars. Or both.

That was pretty much my thought as well.

Actually it was, “Isn’t a union leader supporting Gingrich rather like a Jew supporting Hitler?”

This might be bad news for Romney. He was ahead in the NH polls until this paper endorsed McCain and McCain ended up beating him the NH primary back in 2008. The paper does appear to be influential.
