Don’t link Sarkozy to this. He had nothing to do with this. This episode would have been a career ender for any politician if made public. Just because Strauss-Kahn beat the rap doesn’t mean didn’t do it.

I tend to think he actually did rape her. He has a pattern of sexual advances and misconduct, and predators tend to target women of lower social status since they can be rail roaded. His DNA was on her clothing, and that was not an accident.

I agree. The reason this did not go to trial is because she had lied on her immigration forms. I understand why she did that, and I find her having done that entirely forgivable, morally. But the law is compelled to take notice of it, and no rape-shield law can or should prevent defense counsel from bringing up a complainant’s prior perjury. And sadly, that perjury does indeed make her word worth less than that of Stauss-Kahn in the eyes of the law, thus mandating dismissal of charges.

This truly was a case of a wealthy and powerful man abusing a poor woman and then escaping punishment for it because she had previously needed to lie to survive. It’s a fucked up world we live in.

Playing With AI-Generated “Art”I haven't really explored NightCafe's free online AI Art Generator (creator.nightcafe.studio) tool yet. I have only done some preliminary tinkering around with it but, I have to say, I'm more impressed with the results than I anticipated considering how little ...

Indigenous Americans Ruled Democratically Long Before the U.S. DidDemocracy: it was older and more widespread than we thought. At the Oconee site, called Cold Springs, artifacts were excavated before the valley became an aquatic playground. Now, new older-than-expected radiocarbon dates for those museum-held finds push back the origin ...
