National Press Club withdraws suspension
The National Press Club has reversed it’s decision to suspend Sam Husseini, a communications director at the Institute for Public Accuracy who asked questions of a Saudi ambassador that Press Club executive director Bill McCarren considered to be “loaded statements.”
“I’ve been informed by the chair of the Ethics Committee that my suspension at the National Press Club has been lifted,” Husseini wrote in a letter that will be posted on his blog tomorrow morning. “I welcome this decision and aim to ask ever tougher and sharper questions. I hope others will as well.”
Husseini’s suspension was met with frustration and disbelief by many of his colleagues in the press, many of whom believed his questions for Saudi prince Turki al-Faisal al-Sa’ud were reasonable.
