I won’t lie—I carry a bit of a grudge against SI because of the swimsuit edition. I dislike selling magazines by selling women’s bodies, or the hyper-sexualized, airbrushed images thereof.

This story rocks. It is awesome. It’s about a young man from Compton, and more importantly, his parents. I hope his succeeds. I hope he buys his parents a big house someplace that they don’t have to worry about being shot on their own front lawn for no good reason.

Kudos to SI for approving and publishing this story.
