More Perry Fail: Supports Const. Amendment Allowing Prayer in School
Once and for all, anyone can pray in school you stupid Aggie (redundancy alert!), the government can’t mandate that you do so. It’s that thing called the First Amendment. If you’re going to run for President (or maybe more accurately, sell more copies of your book), you might want to read that thing that you swear to protect. The stupid burns brightly with this one.
Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry said today that he would support amending the US Constitution to allow prayers in public schools.
‘I would support a constitutional amendment that allows our children to pray in school anytime they would like,’ Perry said on Fox News Sunday.
The Supreme Court, in a landmark case in 1962 called Engel v. Vitale, ruled that a New York school district had violated students’ First Amendment rights by requiring that an official school prayer be said in the classroom. Several subsequent decisions have since upheld and expanded the ban on school prayer.
