Antarctic adventurers race against history’s clock
MOST New Year’s resolutions have something to do with losing weight, doing more exercise and possibly taking up a new hobby.
But the Sydney adventurers James Castrission and Justin Jones just want to sit still and eat up after reaching the South Pole yesterday morning - the halfway point in their attempt to become the first duo to trek unassisted to and from the bottom of the world.
”It was such an exhilarating feeling to know we were skiing towards what has been a childhood dream for so long,” Mr Castrission, 29, said.

After 62 days, 1150 kilometres and average temperatures of minus 25 degrees the pair reached the South Pole on their skis shortly after 7.30am.
To celebrate they ”ran around the Earth a few times”.
