Setting aside the question of elitist snobbery, every child should not go to college. College does not train for all jobs available in today's world, and many of these pay well and are fulfilling.

Culinary arts. Metal fabrication and wood fabrication. Airline pilots. Etc.

Yeah, only elitist snobs want everyone to be educated. The truly humble prefer that most people stay ignorant while the wealthiest one percent of the population pays less and less in taxes.

Just in case: /sarc

Rick, I suggest that you look-up the definitions for "elite" and "snob" sometime soon. Yes, I know you're hesitant to read a dictionary, especially the "S" section. I realize that you're afraid Dan Savage succeeded in getting your name in it. But (no pun intended) you should get over that and be more worried about the definition of "Orwellian." That last word perfectly describes how you have been speaking.

Only an elitist snob would want the American children to do better and aspire to succeed and seek out education and wisdom. Yep. That's elitist.

There's more to life than being a cog in a wheel. School and education is good for everyone regardless if you make money or not.

There are far more reasons to go to college/school than just makin munny.

Black people have known this for generations, which is why half of civil rights was fought for access to education, from elementary (Brown vs Board of Ed.) to high school, e.g. Little Rock Nine, to higher ed (several precedents to Brown.)

I know, though, this in itself is an "elitist" attitude of mine. Well, I'm damn proud to be an elitist, if that is the case.

“Knowledge makes a man unfit to be a slave.” - F. Douglass, guess he's an "elitist", too e_e lol

Never thought of college as a trade school--explains that Anthropology degree.

The angriest I ever saw my father(RIP) was the day he found out that he, a PhD in music education and a full university professor made less money than a NYC garbage man

Okay I am confused how is "he wants every student to graduate ‘college and career ready.’" mean that he wants everybody to go to college. Isn't career ready mean able to enter say an apprentice ship program, or on the job training, you know plumbers (Hi Joe) and Mechanics (Hi Charlie).
