Man who sent False Flag KKK threats gets two years in prison
An African-American man was sentenced to two years in prison Friday on charges that were filed after he mailed two threats ostensibly from the Ku Klux Klan to O’Fallon authorities warning them to remove blacks from the city or their homes would be burned down.
Justin Lamar Kidd, 29, formerly of O’Fallon, pleaded guilty Sept. 20 in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis of two counts of maliciously conveying false threats in 2006. He faced a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $500,000 fine, court documents state.
In addition, Judge David Herndon sentenced Kidd to three years parole, a fine of $100 and a special assessment of $300, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
A psychological evaluation requested by Kidd’s public defenders noted that while he does have mental health issues he was competent to stand trial.
