VOLCOM PIPE PRO: DAY THREE
“It’s perfect,” Bruce Irons plainly stated. “It’s real Pipeline; as good as it gets — big, tall barrels and a lot of waves.”
Bruce is not one to overcall the wave quality at the Banzai. He did, however, combo everyone in arguably the day’s most stacked heat.
As the morning’s second and third reef wash-throughs gradually transformed into approachable roll-ins and first-reef mackers, Irons bagged two large lefts for a nine and an eight. Meanwhile, John John Florence, Anthony Walsh and Sean Moody were left scratching their heads while dodging bombs.
“When it’s like this, it’s the best wave in the world,” Irons continued. “Teahupoo is a cartoon, and this is more gladiator style. There’s no wave like it. It’s almost kinda easy with the roll-ins.”
An epic day of surfing yesterday at the Banzai Pipeline on Oahu’s North Shore. It looks like the contest will finish up today, so if you have some free time a bit later on, tune in to the live webcast to see some fantastic waves and great surfing.
