I can't even begin to describe how much I loathe the "Buy Pink Stuff!" campaign being waged by Komen just in order to guilt stupid people into thinking that Buying Pink Stuff will cure cancer.

Not only will Buying Pink Stuff not cure cancer, but a lot of the companies that are making and selling the Pink Stuff, actually cause cancer.

re: #2 Alouette

Until all this latest Komen idiocy, I was one of those people who bought pink stuff and thought I was helping the cause. One of my aunts died of breast cancer, so I felt like it was a worthy thing to do. Some of my cousins do the Walk/Race for the Cure and they're heavily involved with Komen, so it felt right to do it, you know?

All the digging into Komen I've been doing these last couple of days makes me feel like a dupe. I fell for it, hook, line and sinker. Now I'm re-thinking all my charity contributions.

My mother is a breast cancer survivor and I have always felt that the Pink Stuff marketing blitz was total bullshit. All that crap looks totally lame, and it does nothing to Cure Cancer. Buying Pink Shit does not mean "Hey, I Am Totally Curing Cancer!" any more than not buying Pink Shit means "I Want Everyone To Die Of Cancer!"

Add me to the list. My 92 year-old Mom and my sister are both survivors of breast cancer and this pisses me off big time! I will no longer support this bogus organization. I wish I lived in a state where I had representation.

all organizations like this perpetuate their own power eventually, at the expense of their causes, because humans are greedy and want more power and more stuff

... sorry about the rampant disregard for spell checking or proper grammar, the irony of it being Nazi's with grammar issues is not lost on me. I won't admit to how many of the things mentioned in this video I used (or was guilty of) RBS

We are in the midst of the worst Washington scandal since Watergate. The reputation of the Obama White House has, among conservatives, gone from sketchy to sinister, and, among liberals, from unsatisfying to dangerous. No one likes what they're seeing. The Justice Department assault on the Associated Press and the ugly politicization of the Internal Revenue Service have left the administration's credibility deeply, ...

4 Things We Should Remember When Arguing About Politics
Political discourse in America has reached levels of douchebaggery previously only theorized about but never observed, like conversational dark matter. We're in a whole new world of hating people based solely on their opinions on a few key issues, and since this is unexplored territory, our conversations about politics are usually only a couple notches beyond the "hold your breath until the other ...

LAPD Reformed as Federal Oversight Lifted, City Leaders Say
Los Angeles leaders say the Los Angeles Police Department has undergone a dramatic transformation since federal oversight of the agency was ordered 12 years ago. The dismissal Wednesday of the so-called consent decree, which arose largely out of the Rampart corruption scandal and addressed basic problems of accountability that stretched back decades, delivered a largely symbolic, but nonetheless important milestone for the LAPD ...

What to do in Orange County - LA - San Diego
Seems a good way to solicit ideas for touristing destinations and activities. Will have 4-5 days so some opportunity for visiting multiple sites. And since I do have an interest in history and military history items in that area will be welcome suggestions. (The USS Midway down in San Diego is already on the list.) If there is anything California-geology related that would be ...
