JC Penney response to my email in support of Ellen Degeneres
Reacting to the AFA sub-group Million Moms attacking JC Penney for their choice of Ellen Degeneres as a spokesperson, I had written the following email to their PR department:
Regarding your choice of Ellen DeGeneres as a spokesperson: Ms. DeGeneres is a positive role model and a forceful exponent of equal rights for all Americans. She is a fine choice to represent JCP and its family values.
Today I received the following response:
Our recent announcement, rooted in rich heritage, re-imagines every aspect of our business to become America’s favorite store.
We appreciate your feedback and are equally excited to partner with America’s favorite host and former jcpenney associate, Ellen Degeneres, to help tell our story
Here’s hoping JCP remains steadfast and stays with Degeneres. It’s really unfortunate that choosing a popular daytime talkshow host, whose most controversial activity to date has been dancing - poorly - during the opening credits of her show is under fire because of sexual orientation.
