Feds Close Lance Armstrong’s Doping Investigation With No Charges
Like it or not, Lance Armstrong is not a criminal, or at least he won’t be considered one anytime soon. In a late Friday press release, the Department of Justice announced that it was going to drop its case against the seven-time Tour de France winner.
“United States Attorney Andre Birotte Jr. says the case has been closed but didn’t disclose the reason for the decision,” reports the AP’s Greg Risling. “Investigators looked at whether a doping program was created to keep Armstrong and his teammates running at the head of the pack while, at least part of the time, they received government sponsorship from the U.S. Postal Service.”
