Recently, Pamela Geller posted something relatively incoherent about something I wrote. What is discernable from what she wrote is that she doesn’t understand analogies.

What I wrote:

They [Geller’s anti-Muslim group] are seriously taking this hatefest [a conference about how Islam is hostile to human rights] to Dearborn?

That’s like holding a “Circumcision is torturing babies!” conference in Tribeca. It’s like holding a “Blacks are lazy jerks” conference in Harlem.

They’re looking for trouble.

What she responded:

Yes circumcision is like Honor Killing but Jewish

This is a pretty common failure— lack of understanding analogies, but still a pretty annoying one. The above analogy was not between the things being protested, but the nature of the protest. Geller, and her conference, are obviously anti-Muslim. She is choosing to hold it in a highly Muslim area. A conference about circumcision being torture for babies would be clearly anti-Jewish. I myself have posted at length in defense of circumcision, against those who would criminalize it in San Francisco and other places, so this is kind of an especially funny fuckup on her part.

I also don’t think black people are lazy jerks, in case she needs that pointed out.

Tl;DR:

Geller doesn’t get analogies.
