"I am deeply disappointed by the gross mischaracterizations of the strategy, its rationale, and my involvement in it," Handel said in her letter. "I openly acknowledge my role in the matter and continue to believe our decision was the best one for Komen's future and the women we serve."

And by "the women we serve," she's talking about those who toe her far right line, not those who need PP's health screenings. Let those women suffer and die, because by the GOP's rationale abortion is the greater evil.

Karen Handel, a Republican who opposed abortion as a candidate for Georgia governor, said she was actively engaged in efforts to cut off the grants and said the charity's reversal hurt its core mission.

No Karen, you were the one who hurt Komen's core mission by valuing anti-abortion politics above women's health. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

This is from Handel's resignation letter.

Dear Ambassador Brinker:

Susan G. Komen for the Cure has been the recognized leader for more 30 years in the fight against breast cancer here in the US – and increasingly around the world.
....
I have carried out my responsibilities faithfully and in line with the Board’s objectives and the direction provided by you and Liz.
...
However, Komen’s decision to change its granting strategy and exit the controversy surrounding Planned Parenthood and its grants was fully vetted by every appropriate level within the organization. ... No objections were made to moving forward.
...
However, the decision to update our granting model was made before I joined Komen, and the controversy related to Planned Parenthood has long been a concern to the organization.

Not sure if there is anything else to say. The board needs to go. Their reputation, to me, is permanently damaged with all of the information that came out about salaries, and everything else.

Oh "cry me a river", Karen. Buhbye. Have fun on the fauxnews, hate radio circuit.

"...the women we serve."

And those women spoke rather loud and clear. Hit the road, wingnut.
