If this showed up on your Facebook page...
A friend of mine posted the following image to Facebook a couple of days ago:
Not that this is anything new as far as Right wing rhetoric is concerned, but I got to say, when I saw this image, I came EXTREMELY close to sending a message to the person who posted it.
You see, I think it’s in appropriate to compare Obama to some of the MOST DESTRUCTIVE DICTATORS IN HISTORY regardless of how you feel about the man’s politics. It’s such a disturbing comparison that isn’t really a comparison at all.
Barack Obama gets nowhere the same point on the scale as these other guys who killed MILLIONS of their OWN PEOPLE and felt no remorse over it. How do you get off likening the sitting President of the United States to these people?
I haven’t responded yet, because It’s highly likely that if I do, the friendship will disintegrate and, aside from his political views, I do like this person. I could just defriend him but that wouldn’t really send the message I’m looking to get across.
So I’m left in something of a quandry. I’m thinking a measured response would be best and if he decides he doesn’t want to be my friend anymore because of this than so be it.
