Don’t you think that consumers are always expecting “the next great thing”; looking for bargains and unwilling to commit to a single provider in anticipation of a better deal elsewhere? Once you are shopping from behind a keyboard, the theory underlying “outlet” type shopping no longer applies (outlet malls depend on geographical isolation to encourage shoppers to buy, so as not to have made the trip in vain; Amazon offers a “one-stop shopping” feel and assumes that once you are on the site, you will purchase from them for simplicity’s sake). Amazon would have to do a much better job of advertising comparative cost savings to bring shoppers to Prime.

I love Amazon Prime, and believe I get a good value for my money. I thought it was insanely profitable at the start; perhaps it has just plateaued.

Adding other features to it, like unlimited streaming video, or cloud music storage, may have made the product more confusing to consumers.

I like prime.

I just chose to not renew my Amazon Prime free trial.

Eh, I never could get excited enough to even bother with a trial. If I want cheap shipping I just get enough and be willing to wait.

I don’t use Amazon enough to warrant getting prime. I make at most maybe a purchase or two a month and I find the standard free shipping to be fast enough to meet my needs. I may upgrade eventually but I’m in no hurry to.

I’m totally sold on Amazon Prime myself — use it all the time. And the free movies and TV shows are getting better all the time.

Amazon Prime has been tremendous. My dad lives with me, so for 75 bucks a year, we’re getting a lot of stuff in two days—sometimes in one day, depending on what warehouse it’s coming from. That really beats the old 2-week wait for stuff to show up.

I tried amazon prime mostly for the streaming. But their library of free movies is little different from Netflix and it doesn’t work on the iPad or iPhone, so I found it a compete waste.
