Romney is going to have a hard time taking the usual course of steering back towards the centre for the general election. After such a hard swerve to the right, any course correction creates a very real risk of destabilizing the ideological message so severely that the entire campaign simply tips completely on its side.

Told you!

Romney can't steer back to the middle even if he cruises to the nomination. The GOP base will abandon him if he does because they believe he's only a conservative when it's convenient (which is also why he can't attack Santorum too hard either). And the Obama campaign will rake him over the coals for changing his stances - again. He's totally screwed.

The contraception issue is working out great for the President, now that the GOP is pushing to allow all employers to deny contraception and any other coverage they want. Its almost like the GOP is pushing independent women into the President's corner.

It's too early to be calling these things, in my opinion.
A LONG way to November!
