It's impossible to talk sense to a raving fundie wingnut. I'm not gonna give him any more traffic or attention as he seems to be enjoying it far too much.

It seems he is not only swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool, he has repeatedly hit his head on the bottom. He thinks his "message" is getting out. Some light shined in his mothers basement for a moment.

He's gonna miss us come monday, when he goes back to getting zero attention and zero comments on his little blog.

First, there are many non-lethal (and perfectly legal) methods of self-defense against rapists--mace, pepper spray, electrical stun devices, extreme noisemakers, etc. But there ARE laws in many states permitting firearm possession in the situations the author seems to be worried about. And bottom line: who do you think it was who pushed for more sex crime laws, more special victims units, more awareness about acquaintance rape? Not conservatives, for the most part.

I think I figured this moron out. This is his idiotic way of making a round about argument against abortion.

Yeah, rapists love to say "I'm gonna rape you! Now I'm gonna give you 6 seconds to dig through your purse looking for a weapon to stop me! You better have something!" right before they do it.

I think this one has become my favorite from that site.

I'm apparently special, I indulge in "Anti-Christian Derogatory Hate Speech On Little Green Footballs Website" according to the author. My goodness me.

Best imitation of the "Geller Disconnected from Reality Syndrome" I have seen outside of Pam's world. Well, save perhaps for Orly.

To be fair, alot of those non-lethal weapons require the same conceal-carry permits as guns. As for whether or not people should have guns, I'm floating in the middle. I'd rather stop criminals from getting them if possible. But I also recognize that some of the more radical gun laws and ideas (such as trigger-locks. I mean, really?) treat law-abiding gun owners as the enemy. And those laws are about as sensible and effective as Sony effing-up the computers of paying customers in order to stop pirates.

Having said that, I am not on this wingnut's side. He is just making a cliched rant on the subject. He is using it to rationalize that he isn't a misogynist in spite of his hardlines against abortions and contraceptives.

re: #6 SpaceJesus

And yeah, simply having a weapon and/or self-defense lessons aren't as effective a defense as many claim. The ones who have alot of practice at street-fighting are the ones who are going to win those fights. And those people are called "criminals."

Russ Campbell’s Blog: Bill C-23, Fair Elections Act Seems Now on Solid Ground
Now that a Senate committee has recommended nine changes to Bill C-23, Fair Elections Act, the legislation seems pretty solid. And, since Pierre Poilievre has, apparently, indicated privately that he's open to changes, an amended version of the bill will likely become law by this summer. We would probably have gotten to this point earlier had not the minister responsible for the bill ...

Why the Temperature of the Yellow Sea Is a Big Deal, and Other Questions About the South Korean Ferry Disaster
The boat ran into trouble several dozen miles from Jindo, an island that sticks out of South Korea's southwestern corner like a little toe. Jindo is surrounded by a group of even smaller islands that are slightly farther afield from the mainland. The ferry was curving around those small islands at the time it issued a distress call. What caused the disaster? We ...

Calgary stabbings: How knife crime in Canada can cause ‘moral panic’
What Calgary police chief Rick Hanson called the "worst mass murder" in the city's history didn't end at the barrel of a gun. Instead, the 22-year-old suspect identified on Tuesday as Matthew de Grood is accused of entering the kitchen at a house party, taking "a large knife" and using it to fatally stab four men and one woman, all of whom were students ...

New York Electoral College: State Joins National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.
Ben Mathis-Lilley, Slate: New York Electoral College: State Joins National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. Instead of pushing for a Constitutional amendment, which would have to be ratified in 38 states, advocates ask individual state legislatures to pass an agreement: that they'll pledge all their presidential electors to the winner of the national popular vote as soon as enough other states pass the law to ...

The Rocket Boys In the late 1930s, a group of Caltech graduate students were booted off campus after blowing up (part of!) their building during a rocket test gone awry.
