This is no longer anything approaching a rational debate. It is a bizarre, ugly hatefest that is divorced from reality. I don't get it.

I am really thinking about leaving the country in the near future. Something ugly and dangerous is happening here.

I kinda liked this one:

Thank you Barry and Sandra for the cute little scripted show.  I am not a concerned American woman however, I am a concerned taxpaying Citizen of the United States of America, Land of the Free and Home of the Brave.  Take your little "gimme MY barbie back" attitude directly to France where you can have all the raxpayer subsidized sex you like.  Not happening on my dime missy.  As for Barry, keep your sissy man-child hands out of my pocket, shame you were not a product of your own immoral principals.

It's amazing that none of those commenters know what she was testifying about. The word of Rush is all they need.

I'm reminded of Dean Wormer's comment to Flounder. It applies to Rush and his ignorant dittoheads.

The world, and especially the U.S., is changing, as it always does. Although still the richest and most powerful nation on earth, others are catching up.

As one writer I'm fond of put it, "America is no longer the indispensable nation."

A lot of people aren't handling it well. It shows in their irrational behaviour. They don't want to change and they must.

That's true for anything, really. Once Rush and Faux News set the talking points, everyone else falls into line.

Is it insulting to remind this whore that if she can get into law school, she should be able to pay for her own rubbers and pills? Is it more important to her to screw herself into a coma or get a degree?

Apparently, getting into law school means you magically get money for whatever you want!

Instead of having to pay about $40,000 a year while not being able to work full-time because, you know, you're going to law school.

One little detail that is being overlooked in all this spewing of hatred and making nasty remarks about Ms. Fluke-I don't think she ever mentioned her own situation once. She reported anecdotes and statistics about Georgetown students and reproductive health. That somehow makes her a slut?
Rational discourse+women=slut. Really?

I am completely blown away by two things:
1) that all these people apparently think the only reason you would ever be on birth control pills is to have a lot of sex without getting pregnant, even though the majority of women on the pill are on it primarily for hormonal regulation/treatment of hormonal conditions, and
2) that a surprising number of these people think that birth control pills are like condoms so that amount of money spent on the indicates the amount of sex you're having, even though that's not remotely how that works which I was pretty sure was common knowledge before this. Even as a 13-year-old, I knew that the pill was a once-a-day thing regardless of how much sex you were having, and I was a fairly sheltered homeschooler.
So either these people are all more ignorant than a teenaged homeschooler, or they're so caught up in misplaced ire and "disgust" that they're forgotten basic knowledge. Either way, it's rather astonishing.

And I despise the use of the word "slut." I also despise the use of the c-word, but at least there are some semblances of male equivalents. I get that "slut" is a gender-neutral word, but no one uses it for men. There's no "slut-shaming" of men. And it is revolting the way suddenly people are throwing this word at women when if it were men, there would be no shame at all assigned to sexually confident behavior. Disgusting.
