Rush Limbaugh’s New Friend: Westboro Baptist
Reno – There are not many companies, as of late, willing to advertise on Rush Limbaugh’s syndicated radio show. Limbaugh’s controversial comments on Sandra Fluke’s personal life and testimony have cost him over 140 sponsors and forced Premiere Radio Networks to suspend national ads for at least two weeks.
However, it is not all doom and gloom for Limbaugh’s show. Sources inside Clear Channel, which owns Premiere Networks, indicate that the company is considering an offer of sponsorship from Westboro Baptist Church. The church made headlines locally in Reno for threatening to picket Brianna Denison’s funeral. What kind of advertisements Westboro Baptist Church is offering for broadcast is unclear.
If the offer is accepted it would put LifeLock and Lear Financial, the only major businesses to stand with Rush Limbaugh, in strange company. LifeLock provides identity security services, while Lear Financial is known for encouraging people to invest in gold, silver, and platinum.
Messages left with Westboro Baptist have not yet been returned.
If these are your new friends, GOP, I’m glad I left. Don’t bother calling until you grow up. I won’t be waiting.
