Israel Reverses Decision on New Olympic Mascot Over Public Outcry

The Bamba baby wasn’t the committee’s first choice for team mascot; in December of last year, Shpitzik the prickly pear was announced as team mascot. But Israel’s Educational Television sued, claiming Shpitzik resembled Kishkashta, its prickly pear presenter and star of its popular “Mah Pitom” program.
Even when there are problems galore; Iran, Syria, Turkey, Gaza - Israelis find something inane to argue about, and do so with tremendous passion. It’s probably a safety valve.
