Yes, because women normally get confused as to whether they were raped, or just having sex with their husband.

I also normally get confused as to whether I petted my cat, or was nearly mauled to death by a cougar.

Well, it is probably true that if abortion is reserved for only cases of rape and incest, that some women will claim they were raped (without actually accusing an individual) in order to get an abortion.

But they would only do so because they were forced into such a ridiculous position by laws, not just for, you know, giggles.

And I think this guy is afraid of women ‘exploiting’ that ‘loophole’, and he wants them interrogated properly to make sure it’s not the case.

Next up: purity examinations before marriage licenses are given, but only for the brides-to-be.

You’d think the bible-nut politicians would be more careful to heed the eighth commandment (or ninth, depending on your denomination):

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Instead, we get frequent whoopers like:

- Studies have shown porn causes brain damage, blindness, pedophilia, etc.

- Abortions are 99% of what Planned Parenthood does.

- Women are making-up medical emergencies to get abortions.

And now we add:

- Women are crying “rape” just to get abortions.

Hey wingnuts! Here are some introspective warning signs that you might be about to tell a lie:

If you have no specific studies nor statistics to site, you should probably shut the eff up and do some homework. If you can’t prove its true beyond “feeling” that its true, you might be jumping to conclusions. If your source of information is Fox News, you might want to hold-off talking about it until you get a second opinion from the “other-side” because you’ll eventually hear it anyway. And if your opinion requires you to defend it by claiming that scientists are full of bs, odds are that you are the one who is full of it.

The republican who learns to recognize these red-flags before they put their foot in their mouth is the republican who actually stands a chance of winning swing votes.

BTW, The bill passed the Senate 23-12 and now heads to the House, where I am sure it will pass as well.

If you need an abortion and the only way to get one is to claim you were raped, and there are no consequences for lying about it, then what do you think is going to happen?

That was the issue at hand. It’s unfortunate the media failed to present it in any useful way. Perhaps the journalist was confused or lying.

re: #6 John Vreeland

I don’t get it. Are you saying the lawmaker’s words were justified?
