Huge Container Ship Sails Into S.F. Bay Records
The MSC Fabiola sailed under the fog-shrouded Golden Gate Bridge and into the record books just before 5 Wednesday afternoon. The ship, which tied up in Oakland to unload cargo, is the largest vessel ever to enter San Francisco Bay.
The MSC Fabiola is 1,201 feet long - longer than an aircraft carrier - and is the first of a new generation of supersize container ships. The vessel can carry 12,500 20-foot-long cargo containers and is not only the largest ship ever to enter the bay, but also the largest container ship ever to dock at a North American port.

That’s one big ship there.
