It may be just a manifestation of his anger and grief at having just lost a son, the public humiliation heaped on his family, another son who further embarrassed the family by publicly endorsing the actions of his sibling, etc.

It is clear this family is dysfunctional. To do what Mohamed Merah did, and then having that validated by his brotherknowing what it would do to the family only highlights that reality.

This is a tragedy heaped upon another tragedy.

There are some things that cannot be fixed.

“France is a big country that had the means to take my son alive. They could have knocked him out with gas and taken him in,” he said. “They preferred to kill him.”

Yeah, ask the Russians how that method works.

How about the fact that your son opened fire on the French police as they went to apprehend him. Last I checked, that's 100% guarantee to get you shot up by the police/military.

I doubt his lawsuit is going to go further than the judge looking at it throwing it out. Seems like the French police did what they could to coax him out, but ultimately Mereh held his own life in his hands and he chose to throw it away.

No tragedy in Mohamed Merah's death, just a terrorist shitbird being killed. He could have surrendered had he wished to do so, but instead he chose to end his life in pursuit of his sick dream of jihadi "martyrdom". That isn't tragic, that's just the killing of an implacable enemy, a thing any nation's defenders must sometimes do.
