Newt Gingrich Charging $50 for Photos Another Sign of Losing Streak
Newt Gingrich is not going away, despite his losing streak — and despite his inability to keep pace with his rivals when it comes to raising money. So now he’s charging supporters $50 a pop if they want a grip-and-grin picture with their favorite candidate.
That’s right, a picture that had once been free will now set you back $50.
What other choice does a struggling presidential candidate have? No one ever called Newt Gingrich a quitter. And goodness knows he can’t possibly quit the spotlight, even if the big money is coalescing behind Mitt Romney. Las Vegas billionaire Sheldon Adelson reportedly gave $16.5 million to a Gingrich super PAC, but it appears Adelson is backing away from the Gingrich-for-president craps table. Now that Newt tapped out his supporter from the 1 percent, he’s turning to the working stiffs in the 99 percent.
The Naked Cowboy in Times Square, who carries a strategically placed guitar, also charges for a photo. Gingrich supporters who shell out the $50 will also find themselves with a man stripped — not of clothing, but of dignity
