because one side is prepared for peace and the other side just wants to destroy the other. that makes them so equivalent.

Thats beside the point!
I thought the point of that DS segment was that alot of people are/were helped by UNESCO. This includes people who have nothing to do with the Palestinian/Israeli conflict.
Whoever you choose to blame for UNESCO’s loss of funds, the truth remains that alot of people around the world are getting screwed over one region’s politics. And for what? Palestine being recognized as a state by the UN? So what? Take a look at some of the f***ed-up governments recognized by the UN: Syria, China, North Korea, Sudan, etc. How the hell is Palestine bucking the trend?! I mean, come on!
Palestine being recognized by the UN would hardly be the game-changer everyone is making it out to be. Its a hyped-up symbolic gesture. Its not worth screwing others out of needed humanitarian aid just to make a point about someone else making a point. Or to paraphrase the late, great George Carlin: Leave symbols to the symbol-minded.
If you’re so worried about the violence, do something about the local culture promoting the continuation of hate and conflict. I think the last few decades has thoroughly demonstrated that anything less is just a public circle-jerk.

Right. Who cares if the whole world, as represented by the United Nations recognizes another group whose leaders are set to kill as many Jews as possible? Who cares if the whole world, as represented by the United Nations gives this group land that borders with the Jewish Nation of Israel?
Another recognized state that, if given a vote, will add it’s voice to the all the other states that are gathered for the genocide of the Jewish people.
Well, I don’t really know who cares.
But thankfully I know who doesn’t care.

Right. Nevermind that children are being taught to fear and hate from cradle to early grave. The fundamental nature of this conflict is a global popularity contest. Silly me for thinking otherwise. /sarc
Who cares if the whole world, as represented by the United Nations gives this group land that borders with the Jewish Nation of Israel.
Israel gave them that land as part of a peace deal. Do your homework.
Another recognized state that, if given a vote, will add it’s voice to the all the other states that are gathered for the genocide of the Jewish people.
Exactly! One vote. Again, not a game-changer. Not worth making millions suffer for lack of needed humanitarian funding.
Besides, what are you saying? Active genocide through terrorism is bad but passive genocide through neglect of basic needs is cool?
Well, I don’t really know who cares.
But thankfully I know who doesn’t care.
Is that what you care about? Not the actual problems but who cares about it? Again, symbols for the symbol-minded.
I do care about the violence and death. I don’t care for political dick-measuring contests that hurt millions of people without otherwise accomplishing anything. And if you give your wild-eyed passion a rest for a while, you might actually see the difference too.
