The scene where she cleaves the misogynistic preacher demon 'Caleb' ("Buffy is a WHORE!") in two is one of my favourite tv scenes ever.

One of the greatest long running shows ever IMO.

While many deride television as a wasteland, it's really the highest possible art form of our times, as it's able to encompass every other art form extant (with only the exception of touchable sculpture,) within its bounds.

The best part of Buffy was the growth of the characters from initial cardboard comic book caricatures to people you empathized and identified with.

Whedon is a master at the epic series and arcing conflicts, memes, and themes from show to show, through mini season climaxes, and even arcing across multiple seasons with tensions mounting across time to final epic climax. Every television series out there should really aspire to the Epic continuity demonstrated in Buffy.

I wish more creators treated their recurring series this way, not as a series of singular shows with a big hook at the end of each season, but rather as a continually rising tide of waves cascading together towards a real end.

Buffy is the last TV show I watched with any devotion. I haven't found anything as compelling since. The reason? The dialogue - I loved the banter, clever repartee and references on that show.

The dialog was brilliant, I agree. Similarly, so was the dialog on Firefly.

Joss made some of the few shows I will go back and watch old episodes of. Buffy and Angel had nice long runs, I'm still bummed about Firefly's short run.
