French Scholar Richard Descoings Found Dead in the Nude in His Midtown Hotel Room
A prominent French scholar was found dead in a midtown hotel room Tuesday, lying nude on the bed, cops said.
Detectives were treating Richard Descoings’ death as suspicious after finding his cellphone on a third-floor landing as if “it had been flung out the window,” a police source said.
Descoings, director of the prestigious Institute of Political Studies in Paris, was found dead about 1 p.m. in his seventh-floor room at the Michelangelo Hotel.
Descoings was a highly-regarded political scientist. He was in New York at the invitation of the UN, and was taking part in a conference of university presidents from around the world. The circumstances of his death are being termed suspicious by NYPD.
