Sweet Youtube Video
Well, I think this is sweet. It is also a very powerful testament to the power of music. I think there should be more research into the abilities of music to help the disabled.
There has been a lot of research on the Mozart effect.
I did a self-test once where I played a memory game on a cell phone while listening to: silence, my children fighting, ordinary noise, and classical music. I actually did do best while listening to the classical music (and worst while listening to the squabbling), but according to the research, this did not last—if for no other reason than that I listen to my kids fight more than I listen to classical music.
There is also the effect of learning music on children, and the effect of Mozart on people with brain disorders. There does seem to be some positive correlation between learning to make music and a boost in mental abilities.
And, if nothing else, there is the kindness of giving a man who cannot move from his atrophied body a set of headphones and his favorite music to listen to.
