Fucking idiots.

I admit that I usually get a small tax return every year but that doesn't equate to "I don't pay taxes"

I pay SALES taxes, I pay PROPERTY taxes, I pay GASOLINE taxes and that's just to name a few. It's like these people think the ONLY taxes that matter are Federal Income taxes.

And then there's this:

26 U.S. Corporations have a negative tax liability

So it's totally cool for a big corporation to weasel out of BILLIONS of dollars in tax liability but god forbid I and my $27 000/year (NOT my actual salary but it makes the point) try to come out ahead.

Nope, those corporations are being "patriotic capitalists" and I'm being a "typical liberal freeloader" wanting everything to be paid for me.

Convoluted reality brought to you by the offices of Hate, Fear and Loathing, which can be found in any GOP/TP office nationwide. It's the old "Somewhere somebody is getting something for nothing" mantra. "I bet they all have TVs! And cell phones! And air conditioning! Although when it's a corporation (who are people too!) it's A-OK. Cretins. Imbeciles. And worse.

I see you're from Canada so maybe this isn't applicable but folks in the US that get tax refunds are not necessarily not paying taxes at a fair rate. Many people have too much taken out of their paychecks over the year for their tax rate. The refund is their money.

Now, when we're talking about folks and corporations that earn millions and billions and don't pay tax or get refunds, this is a completely different story. They used tax dodges and loopholes to get out of paying what I would say is their fair share.

Quelle surprise.

After all the Bible makes it clear: it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a poor man enter into heaven. Or at least that's the way these cruel loons read it.

This.

In addition, the fact is income taxes are deducted from the paychecks of anyone who works at a job. So anyone working and drawing a paycheck from that work pays federal income taxes. How often the employer submits those tax contributions (quarterly?) is another matter.

In any event, if it's a problem that too few workers actually owe any federal income taxes at tax time the next year, and get all of their contributions back, whose fault is that, exactly? Who created all these tax breaks that enable people to reduce their federal income tax burden?

Yes, I was born in Canada and I'm still a Canadian citizen, but I've been living in the U.S. working towards getting American citizenship since 2008.

I am very confused by this and have been for a long time. How can these people be so successful and also be put in leadership positions when they don't even know how basic tax works in this country?

They know how it works. They just lie about it because it panders to the firmly held convictions of their cretinous base.
