And don't operate in the public sector where public laws apply.

I don't understand why these businesses aren't regulated and taxed like any other business.

I really don't understand how many people are unable to recognize that these organizations are just for profit enterprises.

Perhaps they are confused by the somewhat voluntary fee for and intangible service.

Yep, you don't understand. However there is a good reason and it is based on history. You might study up on what can happen when governments can use taxes and "regulations" to control and change religions.

You have it ass backwards as usual.

It is not government wanting to control and change religion, it is religion wanting to control and change society. Unlike you and Mitt Romney, the majority of Americans think they have a secular society outside of places of worship.

Churches are not taxed, for historical reasons, as you say, forcing everyone to pay for their civil services. When they enter into the free market having nothing to do with worship, they can damn well follow all the rules everyone else has.

Does the Government Actually Understand the 4th Amendment?
Kafka and Heller are laughing hysterically in their graves because reality is now more absurd than anything that they ever wrote! Grayson is basically arguing that the kind of boundless general warrant the NSA is using to justify its mass "ongoing" surveillance cannot possibly comply with the Fourth Amendment's mandate that warrants only be issued when the government has probable cause. In our current ...

U.S. embassy security? Not in my experience
Pat Ferguson Hanson: I was working as a young diplomat at the U.S. Embassy in Athens, Greece, in 1975 when CIA Station Chief Richard Welch was killed in front of his wife upon their return home from a staff Christmas party.
