Charles, thanks for allowing me a moment to respond to this confusing post, to make sure no one misunderstood anything. The facts as I described them in the digital show were how an executive from twitter described the back-and-forth. I specifically avoided the details, as well as the charges and countercharges about conspiracies and such, and just went into the events broadly, as they were described to me. Thanks!

There's absolutely nothing confusing about STLActivist's post. Tapper's response kinda sounds like an admission that he barely understands what's going, and that he did almost no research. Not really sure this makes him look better.

re: #1 mattand

My thoughts exactly. He's saying, "I didn't feel like doing any real reporting on this story so I just summarized what some guy told me."

Agree with both #1 and #2. Also, the problem isn't what Twitter told him. The problem is understanding the context of the original story, which was unequivocally a claim by right-wingers that the suspension resulted from an orchestrated campaign to silence conservatives on Twitter. By ignoring that context, and claiming that Chris Loesch was suspended by "liberals" who "abused the system," Tapper played directly into the right-wing narrative. If you doubt it, all you need to do is observe all of the original right-wingers who pushed the conspiracy theory enthusiastically retweeting Tapper's post. By the way, wouldn't it be nice if Tapper stated exactly what the question was that prompted the response from Twitter's spokesperson?

Check this out - a deliberate misreading of the first sentence:

Thanks for the updates, and I still follow @jaketapper because even though though we don't always agree, Jake's broken some important stories over the years.
