A sad sad day. :(

Not a surprise: The white population that is still Southern favored this, and so likely did much of NC's black population. For all its changes, North Carolina is still a state that would prefer that gay people stay in the closet.

That must be why my marriage suddenly feels so much stronger, Except, of course, that it doesn't. How does making other people unhappy improve my life?

Dear Bigots,

Civil rights aren't up for a popular vote. Deal with it.

Just the way these bigots screech that "gay marriage will lead to bestiality", I think we ought to start harping on "whose rights will these bigots take away next?", and watch them bluster! (Did I forget to call them bigots? Well, just in case: :"I HATE YOU, BIGOTS!!!")

Just some black voices from NC, probably not representative of the blacks DF spoke of:

May 6th, 2012 - In a press conference held in Greensboro, North Carolina, Clergy from around the state gathered together to pray for the wisdom of it's citizens regarding the May 8th vote on Amendment One. In that conference, Rev. Dr. William J. Barber took the time to rebuke the media for asking the wrong questions regarding the amendment.
