I'm all for having common core standards so all states are on the same page. However, these standards are based on what someone going to college would need, leaving all the average and below average students even further behind, not preparing them at all for life after school because everything is way over their heads. It's ridiculous.

It'll be OK here, as long as all your kids learn that slavery didn't cause the War of Northern Aggression.

.....Northern Aggression.

That always cracks me up. Some people can hold a serious grudge can't they?

The term my Yankee kids had to re-learn was actually "War Between the States" instead of "Civil War". Their teachers were quite serious about it.

There is a school of thought that children will live down or up to our expectations of them. If we expect little from them, that is what we will get, and they will be condemned to a lifetime of poverty.
