I'd just file it under "douchebags." From the MNBC article about these three geniuses:

Michael Olstewski, 22, a recent music school graduate who came to Chicago from Atlanta, one of hundreds of protesters who took to the streets on Friday for a spontaneous march, said protesters may be waiting to make a big statement.
He said he didn't do anything to get arrested Friday, "but later in the week ... If I feel it's strategic and a powerful statement" he would provoke police into arresting him.

snort. I guess his mommy and daddy can spend heir money any way they want and all, but my folks sure didn't fund any post-graduation travel, and definitely wouldn't have helped with bail or legal fees if I had decided that getting arrested was somehow "strategic and a powerful statement" of anything aside from my own idiocy.

Here's the link to the MSNBC article. I think the AP was trying to make the guys look like OWS heroes or something with the extensive quoting of some defense attorney. MSNBC makes them sound like a bunch of clowns, complete with "Ninja weapons."

MSNBC changed the article and took out the interview with Michael Olstewski. LOL

I swear I didn't make it up.

Mr. Olstewski is still featured in the article on the NY Post. Now I'm laughing at this gem:

Elsewhere, Chicago was mostly quiet. Downtown streets were largely empty, though that is not unusual for a weekend.

One wonders how all that great shopping and dining stays afloat if downtown Chicago turns in to a ghost town on weekends. Jesus... reporters are stupid.

Now I haven't been to Chicago in a year, but I don't think I've ever seen the streets "mostly empty" there. Have things changed a lot in the past year?

re: #4 funky chicken

There are two distinct sides of downtown Chicago. The north which is bars, restaurants, etc., and the south (business/financial) which is where they roll up the sidewalks on weekends. There are the occasional restaurant or bar, but those are closer to the theatre district which is just to the north of the financial area. To the west of the financial district is Union Station and then Greektown, and to the east is Grant Park. That financial area is deader than a doornail on weekends. Walking from Union Station to Grant Park on a weekend is eerie, to say the least

There's your Chicago geography lesson du jour. :-)
