If/when more stories like this keep coming out of Syria, it going to be more and more difficult for China and Russia to keep blocking actions to stop the violence against the civilian populations without repercussions. Such actions does not have to be similar to Libya with some form of military action, diplomatic measures need to be exhausted before the world gets to that point. Unfortunately, China and Russia have been less than eager, shall we say, at even going the diplomatic move due to self-interests in Syria’s Assad government.

Something has to be done to try to protect the civilians in Syria, but China and Russia are starting to look worse to many for stalling any attempts at that.

I appreciate Mr. Annan’s horror, but if I were an individual with a gun in Syria, my next question would be, “OK, if I lay this sucker down, is anyone coming in here to protect my family, Mr. Annan?”

It’s not hard to encourage everyone to be peaceful when you’re not getting shot at.

Useless United Nations. Utterly useless. I see no need to heed anything that organization says, or even house its HQ on our soil. SERIOUSLY.

U.N. envoy Kofi Annan called Monday on “every individual with a gun” in Syria to lay down arms, saying he was horrified by a weekend massacre that killed more than 100 people, including women and small children.

So both sides are guilty of the massacre? Because if not, then Kofi is sniffing the magical balance fairy dust. (MBFD - tm)

Even Syria’s staunchest ally Russia joined sweeping international criticism of the mass killings on Friday in the Houla area, saying the government was at least partly to blame for one of the deadliest single events in the 15-month-old uprising against President Bashar Assad’s rule.

So Russia is snorting the MBFD too, eh? They’ve been doing all they can to enable and protect Assad. Now they’re realizing that its becoming too difficult to save face. And still more difficult to deny that its too late to save face. The bottle wasn’t enough anymore. Now they need the dust too.

“I am personally shocked and horrified by the tragic incident in Houla two days ago, which took so many innocent lives, children, women and men,”

Assad’s forces have been targeting journalists for awhile now. What did you think they were trying to hide, unpaid parking tickets?

You’re right Mr. Annon. I am being too harsh. You’re too high on the dust to follow this topic. I should cut you some slack.
