1 Killgore Trout  Wed, Jun 6, 2012 10:06:42pm

I seriously doubt anyone is going to watch the whole clip but skip to about 28:00 and watch the end.

re: #1 Killgore Trout

On the contrary, I just finished it.

Fry is a throwback to the days when the art of conversation was valued in English speaking society. He's very good at these type of monologues.

I doubt many people today could make it past 140 characters.

Kindness. It matters. A lot. And it's 100% free.

Same with apologies: They cost nothing but buy a lot.

True that.

Hey, what are you doing up so late?

I'm not sure about that. It's not clear how private apologies affect one's group status, but in public an apology might lower one's position/status in the tribe.

The king rarely apologizes to anyone. The serf does it every hour.

Occupy Together

Several thousand people, all across America, are meeting in cities beyond NYC and yet there is an amazing lack of mainstream ( big corporate ) media attention to them, and their counterparts in Ireland and other countries...if you are interested, you can go to YouTube and search on them yourself...but to get an idea of how big the movement is, simply click on this link:

Remember, this protest are not being run by the wealthy elite nor populated by them...but rather the other 99% of us who will never be in the bracket, and now, have no hope of it so long as Big Money is in control...it's rather worrying, in fact, that no events are scheduled in England, as it's probably due to the recent violent riots there...But Occupy Together is a peaceful movement, though I suspect if things continue as they have been...it won't stay that way...and that's when the media will show it to you, so you will think it's insanity let loose...right now, it's a 'media blackout' so you will stay put and mock those actually trying to confront the fiscal abuses of us all...

The Revolution will not be televised
The Revolution will not be privatized

Click on 'Events' and you will see how rapidly this movement is organizing itself and spreading...

[Link: www.occupytogether.org...]

'austerity measures' is a term that bankers evolved...and gold backed money is part of our current problems...this matters...please don't ignore this just because my handle's on it..it's about YOU...unless, of course, your income is over a million dollars or pounds a year..then, maybe it's not...otherwise...

Meet America’s Most Shameless Defender of the 1 Percent
More: Meet America's Most Shameless Defender of the 1 Percent, Harvard Economist Greg Mankiw It’s not really news that America’s economics departments, particularly at elite institutions, are stuffed with people whose careers are founded on protecting monied interests. But it’s pretty rare when someone just comes straight out and announces the fact. Meet Greg Mankiw, chairman and professor of economics at Harvard, one of ...

Nate Silver: Politico Co-Founders Lack ‘Curiosity for the World Outside of the Bubble’
"It's striking how preoccupied Harris and VandeHei are with the perception that Politico is too 'insidery,'" Silver wrote. "My personal critique of their work cuts a little deeper than that, however. It's not that they are too 'insidery' per se, but that the perceptions of Beltway insiders, which Politico echoes and embraces, are not always very insightful or accurate. In other words, the conventional ...

Jack Shafer: Snowden vs the Dragons
Reuters: But even the press in aggregate is not a friend to whistle-blowers, as its recent treatment of Snowden attests, what with the deep dives into his teen years (including photos), his education and employment history, his reputation as a loner and a “brainiac,” his pants-down hijinks, his online scribblings, his dancer girlfriend, his predilection for (in his own words) “post-coital Krispy Kremes.” Squeezing ...

Why Innovation [as well as productivity] Thrives in Cities
June 4, 2013 -- In 2010, in the journal Nature, a pair of physicists at the Santa Fe Institute showed that when the population of a city doubles, economic productivity goes up by an average of 130 percent. Baker’s Graduation Cake Mix-Up Ends in Purr-fect Mistake
When Laura Gambrel, 22, of Zionsville, Ind., graduated from Indiana University in May, she wanted to keep the celebration pretty low key. It seemed only fitting then that the one thing her mother attempted to do ...
