1 Lord Baron Viscount Duke Earl Count Planckton  Fri, Jun 8, 2012 1:47:06pm

I've researched the testimony stuff right after I learned about this allegation (it's in the older threads here). Hypnotic testimony is bullshit in principle, so I had to know if Kimberlin might have been railroaded. And anyway Kimberlin uses it to discredit the whole trial.

When Kimberlin got the Appeals Court to examine the issue of hypnotic testimony they agreed with him that it was problematic in principle. However they have gone through the testimonies of the 6 witnesses and analyzed each. For example, for several witnesses there were pre-hypnotic statements. Etc. The Court reached the conclusion that although the hypnotic statements were problematic, the case stood without them.

For me the clincher was the following fact: during a search of Kimberlin's possession (in his car, IIRC) police found timers for bombs of the same model as used in the bombings AND metallic balls of the same caliber as used in the bombing. While the presence of the same timers could arguably be a coincidence (Kimberlin's defense was that he had to do some "normal" dynamiting), the metallic balls can hardly be explained this way, for why would he have them? So from what I've read, I conclude that yes, Kimberlin was the bomber.

OK. Kimberlin was (probably) rightfully convicted.

As I said, my suspicion sent me in a different direction. And in that, I discovered the barrage of crap aimed at him has nothing to do with how bad a man he is but rather because he challenged Breitbart.

Kimberlin is the guy who said he sold marijuana to Quayle.

I am curious about what anyone thinks was "over the line" in any of the posts about him.

It seems to me that these are nuisance suits and nothing more.

Growing, Lurking Threat: ‘Paper Terrorism’
How do you stop one anti-government extremist from coordinating a trillion dollar "paper terrorism" scheme involving a raft of false financial documents, or deal with another who sues prosecutors for allegedly conspiring against him by using poor grammar? This is the question that state governments and federal agencies are faced with, ever since a surge of people who consider themselves "sovereign citizens" began ...

Video: Mall Cop and Woman Fight Over Picture-Taking on Mall Property
How NOT to confront a group of people taking pics. The guard was probably withing her rights as the people were on private property, and management gets to disallow if they wish. But the nuance here is the people were taking pics from mall property not of mall property. Fortunately no guns were involved. But a genuine cop would have made all the difference. ...

Your Weekly Peggy Noonan Three Martini Column
We are in the midst of the worst Washington scandal since Watergate. The reputation of the Obama White House has, among conservatives, gone from sketchy to sinister, and, among liberals, from unsatisfying to dangerous. No one likes what they're seeing. The Justice Department assault on the Associated Press and the ugly politicization of the Internal Revenue Service have left the administration's credibility deeply, ...

4 Things We Should Remember When Arguing About Politics
Political discourse in America has reached levels of douchebaggery previously only theorized about but never observed, like conversational dark matter. We're in a whole new world of hating people based solely on their opinions on a few key issues, and since this is unexplored territory, our conversations about politics are usually only a couple notches beyond the "hold your breath until the other ...
