No.

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.

- Article VI of the Constitution

The constitution of the Republic of Texas explicitly prohibited members of the clergy from holding public office. In 1845, this was rejected for inclusion in the state constitution on the grounds that it would conflict with the First Amendment of the federal constitution. It would appear that these issues were better understood 167 years ago than they are today.

Pennsylvania sounds like it was written by atheists to ensure all believers were not discriminated against...I wish./

Texas would be fun to test. "I swear I believe in Thor".

re: #4 Achilles Tang

Texas would be fun to test. "I swear I believe in Thor".

And I believe a sincerely held belief in Sol Invictus would be fine for both North and South Carolina (adressing SI as "God" in a general sense was quite common AFAIK).

MBF for the win!! An early version of the Florida constitution (around 1830) specifically banned preachers from public office.

Why Kerry Wants to Strike Syrias Airfields - Bloomberg
Yesterday, shortly after I posted a column on Secretary of State John Kerry's push to have the White House approve U.S. strikes on Syrian airfields -- and how Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey pushed back strongly against the idea -- I heard from a number of people who support Kerry's stance and think that the Pentagon is being unnecessarily timid. 2. The GOP’s Steve King Problem
Earlier this year, the Republican National Committee released a 100-page report detailing how the GOP needed to retrofit its agenda and soften its tone. But if Republican officials had wanted to save time, they could have issued a shorthand summary that read: Be less like Steve King. The Iowa congressman's outspoken conservatism embodies the kind of politics that, in the RNC's own words, alienates ...
