There is no excuse for moral equivacation. Cultural relativism is a useful tool for anthropologists writing an ethnography. It is not useful for comparing Israeli self-defense with Arab terrorism.

By 'anti-Israeli' you mean 'daring to dissent from the fact that Israel is the best nation ever and the last hope for goodness in the world.'

Yawn. I support Israel. That doesn't mean I have to agree with everything they do.

Ridiculous. I couldn't disagree more... And the flimsy arguments over grammer? Jared Loughner crap. If you think a bomb targeting a Bus Stop was targeting an inanimate object then you're an idiot... I couldn't disagree more with this article. The American media is eternally protective of Israel. And if your only instances of bias appear in the form of grammer... you're grasping at staws... "Murder by knife" does not mean authorities, or you as the reader, are to believe the knife is responsible, the sentence just tells how the murder occurred. Obviously... Pointing out that the construction of houses in the Occupied Territories is instigating violence, does not excuse the violence. And the excerpt quoted even explains that... And there is a cycle of violence in Israel. No matter how much you deny it with tenuous grammatical evidence.

Slamming Aigle felt good before I knew it was just a bot. Simply down-ding it and let it go.

Just curious, but do you actually care about everything that happens in Israel? [How can I get the right inflection here? My implication is that if you have no dog in this fight, you might simply get tired (bored) of Israel being in the headlines every day. And this would seem rational to me.]

Where did you get that definition of how many view the term 'anti-Israel'? I don't know anyone who would have that as a working definition when it comes to Israel. I think that definition is a straw man.

You're right. I just read that stupid article and the logic really bothered me. Down-ding was all this really deserved.

Agreed. That sort of definition is a strawman. And I would say that American media outlets are anti-Israel (they aren't, though European media outlets are a different story), but many are very reluctant to side with the 'big dog' instead of the 'underdog'. Moreover, they often want to seem even-handed, even when it is entirely clear who is at fault for an incident.

There is also one final issue and that is the fact that is easier for a news outlet to go after Israel. Going after the Palestinians means no access to the West Bank as they won't allow reporters they consider hostile in. But Israel does not have such a policy, which leaves them with few ways to to retaliate when they get unfairly portrayed.

Ok, please be specific. What do you disagree with that Israel is doing?

re: #8 Dark_Falcon

I'm not happy about this whole bot thing, and because of this, I don't read the posts by Aigle. We've had many opportunities on LGF to actually talk about the role of the media in fanning the flames of antisemitism. I'm sure the opportunity will come again. But this ain't it.

Overall, the tyrants of the world do everything they can to intimidate the media--and many reporters give in to this intimidation. I think the more reasonable approach would be to simply do a story without the input of the side exerting duress. For some reason, the press has not made the connection between a general policy of overall censorship and intimidation, and the crimes that usually take place within tyrannical regimes.

(Did you forget a word in here, or am I mis-reading you? I think you meant to say that you "would NOT say American news outlets are anti-Israel"?)

This is pretty much was (swallow, grit my teeth) Bill Mahr said, tho' not as politely. I was forced to agree, even with his ruder version, which included saying that the American people really just look around for whoever looks like a victim & side w/them.

There's also threats to those who print things the PA doesn't like. Israel only just makes them open their e-mails when tey come into the country.

This is not all about you, Sir, this is a larger problem than your opinion on Israel, of course your right, Israel does wrong and right. This is about how the vast majority of people receive information on Israel which is tinged with a vile hatred of it.

ARGH!!British Ad Campaign Uses Image of Old Pregnant Woman to Scare Women Into Having Babies Younger
While pregnant teens are being shamed for making bad choices in the US, a new ad campaign in Britain is tackling the other side of the spectrum with an arresting image of a pregnant old woman. The campaign, sponsored by the pregnancy testing company First Response, purports to warn young women that their childbearing years are numbered. The average British woman bears her ...

The second-highest official in the Archdiocese of Newark is stepping down in the wake of a sex scandal involving a former priest accused of violating an agreement with law enforcement barring him from working with children. Iowa Republican Senate Primary 2014 a Free-for-All - Alexander Burns
And the Republican field is likely to keep growing: state Sen. Joni Ernst, Secretary of State Matt Schultz and Iowa GOP Chairman A.J. Spiker have expressed interest in the race. Mark Jacobs, a wealthy former oil executive who heads an education nonprofit, has also popped up at local GOP events in recent weeks and met with the National Republican Senatorial Committee. An Interplanetary GPS Using Pulsar Signals
Spacecraft could determine their position anywhere in the solar system to within five kilometres using signals from x-ray pulsars, say astronomers. Navigating in space is a tricky business. The usual method relies on Earth-based tracking stations to work out a spacecraft's distance using radio waves, a process that is accurate to within a metre or so. That's fine for the radial distance, but ...

4 Reasons ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ Is Secretly About Drugs
Nice, right? Anyway, here's my thesis: Raiders of the Lost Ark is not an action-adventure movie about an archaeologist who plays by his own rules and saves the day. Instead, the film is an exploration of Marion Ravenwood's crippling drug addiction. An addiction that was born from her unhealthy relationship and continued association with Indiana Jones. Is it true? Who cares. Can I prove ...

WAPO’s Glenn Kessler Gives Three “Pinocchios” To Claim of Doctored Emails
It has long been part of the Washington game for officials to discredit a news story by playing up errors in a relatively small part of it. Pfeiffer gives the impression that GOP operatives deliberately tried to "smear the president" with false, doctored e-mails. But the reporters involved have indicated they were told by their sources that these were summaries, taken from notes ...

I was writing all kinds of positive and negative canons and weird inverted this and retrograde that and getting as spaced-out mathematically as I could and I was going "Wait a minute (laughs), who cares about that stuff?" I had always liked rhythm and blues so here I was stuck between the slide rule and the gut bucket somewhere and I decided that I would opt for a third road someplace in between. -- From an 1972 interview to Martin Perlich.
