Yes, that does clarify the while thing for once. The summary:

In other words, it’s an extensive legal fight between two self-important people I can almost guarantee you’ve never heard of, except that it’s also the single most important First Amendment cause ever for a bunch of bloggers who will not be silenced by this Kimberlin guy!

That's about the size of it.

For a while the wingnutosphere was trying to implicate me in this mess, too. I guess I should be flattered that they think I'm that evil.

Me and George Soros. We're like this.

Ya lie down with dogs, 'n all that.

Ya got to hand it to this dood-not only is he driving them nuts, but they're having to expend capital they they could be using to try to O'Keefe some other folks. But the 'targets' of Kimberlain aren't exactly coming up sweetness and light and unstained when it comes to substantiating some of their more 'interesting' SWATing claims; especially given the resources some of them have at their disposal. Seems like they not only have tangled with a lefty O'keefe clone, but the dood appears to be much more on the ball with (ab)using the legal system than O'Keefe and his cronies EVER were. And left's face it, Kimberlain's tactics are almost a mirror of the less-than-savory O'Keefe-isms-perhaps that's why with Kimberlain on the loose, they've now come to realize that whatever your wonderous can-do-no-wrong fair-haired child against your political enemies (which we all know now is bullshit) he's not only returning it back to you in spades, but at the same time giving master's classes on how one wields the 'lawfare' weapon-a brilliantly disgusting (or disgustingly brilliant) maneuver. Her certainly isn't the first, nor will be be the last to resort to this variant of Gaslighting turned inside out.

Freedom of Speech does NOT mean freedom from from consequences-just look at the butthurt ALEC keeps heaping on themselves. Yet at the same time, Freedom of Speech does not extend to criminal acts, but so far all of the so-called charges against Kimberlain not only have not resulted in his arrest and/or indictment (AFAIK) , but the public peral-clutching and garment-rendering of people who should really know better has been defenenstrated. Sure, Kimberlain's past speaks volumes-but funny thing-now we're seeing ex-felon Abramoff's face on a non-trivial amount of Beltway shows.

Parnee nailed this one. But I suspect that this wingnut Opus Dei-like self-flagellation will keep going on until someone sees Jesus and gets a conscience and says enough, or some real non-trivial lawsuits/prosecutions
takes down some of the participants. All we can do now is treat it as the train wreck that is has become, and watch in fascinated horror.

Or, not.

And just for your further trip down the rabbit hole...or not:

Salon Does Damage Control for Brett Kimberlin

Pareene describes Kimberlin’s victim’s as people who “receive a great deal of joy from pretending to be the victims of unprovoked and terrible persecution.” Ask Aaron Walker how much joy he received when he and his wife lost their jobs, he was arrested, and spent money defending against frivolous actions from Kimberlin. It was not “joy” I experienced when Kimberlin’s site published photos of my house and my address; when he filed a state bar complaint against me; when he attempted to file frivolous criminal charges against me with the California Attorney General and the stalking unit of my office; or when he complained to my office numerous times about me.

And so on and so forth.

Pareene mentions Kimberlin’s main defense to the bombings — that some of the witnesses were hypnotized — without mentioning the damning evidence against him, such as his possession of timers and explosive materials consistent with those used in the bombings. Nowhere is there a mention of the wrongful death judgment obtained by Carl DeLong’s widow, or the fact that Kimberlin refused to pay it while collecting over a million dollars from the Tides Foundation, Barbra Streisand, and other liberal marks.

There is so much more I could talk about, but I have to get to work.

This piece pretends to be journalism, but it isn’t. It’s cover to Brett Kimberlin, pure and simple. Pareene repeats Kimberlin’s allegations and doesn’t bother to talk to any of his victims.

It’s Gawker-style “journalism,” at Salon.
