She makes her case in good fashion, but I'd like the ladies to take the lead on discussing its merits.

The fact that no female veterans are on the advisory boards is concerning.

It's like having an advisory board on school lunches, and the only people on the board all brought their lunches from home.

Or worse, like having an advisory board on childbirth, and nobody who will or has given birth is on the board.

I've always known that we are not equal in capabilities. That isn't a problem unless the society we live in decides "Some animals are more equal than others."

I'm not sure I'm following the root of your perception. I'm reading that because combat roles have been labeled "male only" by not only the US, but many other countries over history and culture, that that equates with some being more equal than others and therefore THE problem? How about telling it to the Marine in the article?

I'd tend to say, in this circumstance, described by a real combat vet, who started her career healthy and fit, and has become disabled trying to work out the "we are equal" motto, as she points out, brought upon the "system" not by those who have been there, but those who think someone else should do it, and found it to be untrue in this circumstance.

So, is the "we are not equal" a false prohibition made by a male dominated structure, or a matter of pure pragmatism for such extreme circumstances, that cannot be changed by the all powerful Congress of the Untied States by putting laser toner to paper?
