Why not? There was no illegal activitey done just sexual stuff. America has an immature attitude towards sexuality. In France this would be a forgotten scandal already.

I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand, yes, you’re right, as far as US attitude toward sex goes. On the other hand, can someone who betrayed the trust of a spouse be trusted not to betray the trust of the public? That point isn’t one that has anything to do with sex, in my opinion, and is worth thinking about.

He was a pretty effective congressman, interested in his district and eager to help out the city and region with his work and proposed bills. Don’t see why he couldn’t be a good mayor.

We can argue if monogamous sex is rational or not or even biologically and evolutionally sound and not an outgrowth of religion (Bible seems to not be sure about this because we have numerous examples of patriarchs having multiple wives and concubines) but in this case all Wiener did (still funny name for the situation) is send picture of his privates to other women and some naughty talk.

Wiener did not actually have sex to break any trust with a spouse unless someone thinks he sinned in his heart and that is a religious thoughtcrime and thus moot to me. DId he embarrass his wife. Sure. but it was not an evil act.

If you on the other hand viewed Wiener in a negative light because he acted immature then that to me is a better argument. How can someone be that smart as I saw he was and do something so dumb where if he was caught he could be ruined? That is the more valuable assessment to me over him violating his spouses trust.
