Mitt Romney cannot do anything to help them. If he did, it would effectively make any idea of a blind trust for his assets non-sustainable and moreover would validate the Obama campaign's attacks on him. It would be a horrendous idea.

And the sensors the plant makes are mostly used in China for cars sold in China. Keeping it here makes no sense for Bain or Romney. I do feel sorry for the people who are going to be laid off, but it makes no real sense for Sensa to continue to employ them. Employees are employed to produce value for the company, and these employees no longer produce enough value to justify retaining them. That's capitalism and I make no apology for it.

You heard it here folks. Cars sold for China need parts made in China and cars sold in the USA also need parts made in China cause that is what capitalism is all about. You mean the company was making money in the USA just not as much as if it hired Chinese? Tough shit, yankee doodle dandy. Romney needs a new mansion for his cars.

Factory workers are employed to produce value for the owners of the factory, that is the reason their jobs exist in the first place. It is not, repeat not, 'so they can provide for themselves and their families. That is why they accepted offers of employment, not why the jobs exist in the first place.

Again, the great majority of the sensors being produced in Freeport are being used in China for parts that will be used in China (the US does not use many Chinese-made parts). Under those circumstances, it makes no financial sense for Sensata (which Bain owns) to keep production in the US.

No one is saying the factory workers in Freeport were not producing value. But they no longer produce enough value to justify retaining them. To retain them would be to have Sensata generate less profit than it is capable of, and thus a lower rate of return for Bain Capital's investors. For Mitt Romney or any current Bain executive to do such a thing would be a contravention of Bain's duty to its investors. And it is to its investors that Bain owes its loyalty.

Henry Ford wanted his employees to make enough money to afford his pricey new car. American bosses nowadays want to pay their workers as little as possible so they can afford their toys while the workers scramble to make a living.

If this is what capitalism has become then kill it.

We operate 11 final assembly plants in China and 4 power train plants in 8 cities across the country… We have more than 2,700 dealerships and sales outlets nationwide.” SAIC is Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp – run by the communist government of China. FAW is another Chinese government-owned manufacturer.

And in case you are one of the suckers who believe that GM paid back all of the money from the Government, TARP Inspector General Christy Romero should know what she is talking about, GM still owes $41.5 Billion.

As of March 31, 2012, General Motors Company (“GM”) and Ally
Financial Inc. (“Ally Financial”), formerly GMAC Inc., remain in TARP. Taxpayers are still owed $27 billion for the TARP investment in GM and $14.5 billion for the TARP investment in Ally Financial.

Of course the difference is that Bain is doing it with THEIR money, and GM is doing it with yours.
