Another international beach bum of terror, may he burn in hell.

Why do I suspect that his release from Guantanamo under the Bush administration will not stop this from being used as a football against the Obama administration?

Personally, I'm giving this the 24-hour rule, although it certainly sounds plausible. Also, it doesn't necessarily rule out the involvement of Iran, Hizb'allah or other of the usual suspects. (Although I can think of one LGF poster who would probably cite this as proof that yesterday's atrocity is, in fact, the U.S.' fault).

As for it's being used, if true, against President Obama, that would probably only be the case with respect to those who blame the day's weather on the President. After all, despite the desires of many of President Obama's supporters on "the Left", the President has not attempted to shut Gitmo down.

However, to the extent that President Obama, like President Bush before him, has occasionally released people from Gitmo who pose a threat to the public, that is in my opinion a legitimate argument, as it was with respect to President Bush before him.

Learned Mother of Zion:
The Swedish Security Service (SÄPO) says that Mehdi Ghezali isn't the suicide bomber. (Source in Swedish. Feel free to use Google Translate.)

Erik: SAPO also said that they do not know where Ghezali is.

Now, I may just be a simple caveman (thanks for the memories Phil Hartman), but seems to me you cannot rule him out as the perp if you don't actually know where he is.

Either way, all sorts of information is dribbling out. For example, as Ha'aretz's reports in the article to which you link, we already know how long the perpetrator was in Bulgaria. I am confident that some pretty bright and determined people are following the trail (and are likely already much further along the trail than the media or we know or than they will admit), and we will know in the not too distant future -- but unfortunately not soon enought -- whether our former guest at Gitmo did it.

In Swedish media, SÄPO deny that he's the suicide bomber. In none of the articles are SÄPO saying that they don't know where he is. They deny and they don't want to say anything else about this.

If you got a well sourced article saying that they don't know where he is, I would reconsider, but I have yet to see one.
