So this is where White Castle found their inspiration....

What?

I'm sticking with Neuschwanstein.

Doesn't seem like the place you have to take your shoes off at the door.

Beautiful! I always wonder, thought, what the heck all those ROOMS were used for (or intended to be used for)?

Hah! I have built several castles more impressive than that in Minecraft.

Beautiful. It's like the Oriental counterpart, especially the photos on Google Images with the cherry blossoms.

Gah! I can't believe you went there. If King Ludwig II was surviving on belly bombs (also known as murder burgers in NYC), then it's no wonder the poor guy died before is castle was finished. //

Beats me about the rooms! Wikipedia says that if it had been completed it would have had 200+ rooms, "including premises for guests and servants as well as for service and logistics. Ultimately, no more than about 15 rooms and halls were finished." I would imagine it would take a pretty large staff to maintain a palce like that. O_o

There are lots more nice pics on the Wiki page. I'm not too crazy about the interior—too fussy & ornate, but the arches & the mosaic floors are exquisite.

Hmm, it seems King Ludwig was "deposed on grounds of mental incapacity without any medical examination," and died under very suspicious circumstances (along with his doctor). Sheesh, the European royals were never lacking in the palace intrigue department, were they? He never married and, according to his diaries, it seems he also struggled with homosexuality. Poor guy. I guess being a king and having the means to build fairytale castles didn't guarantee of happiness, huh?

Neuschwanstein is amazing but it's not a friendly place. To my surprise I found the older Hohenschwangau located below to be far more appealing.

Okay, now I'm curious—in what way was it unfriendly?
