Russell Pearce Blames Aurora Victims, Then Blames Gun Control, For Massacre

Former Arizona State Sen. Russell Pearce wrote a missive Saturday highlighting the collective failure of the victims of the Aurora, Colo. massacre to stop the shooter who left 12 people dead and nearly 60 wounded in a movie theater.

The outspoken conservative — known for his ardent pro-gun and anti-illegal-immigration views — later sought to clarify that he was merely blaming gun control laws.

Early Saturday morning, the former Republican lawmaker took to Facebook to mourn the victims. He then wondered why none were ‘[b]rave’ enough to stop the atrocity.

‘Where were the men of flight 93???? Someone should have stopped this man,’ he wrote. ‘…All that was needed is one Courages/Brave man prepared mentally or otherwise to stop this it could have been done.’

Anyone following the coverage of the massacre will no that there was no shortage of heroism on display: at least two people who died physically shielding their loved ones from harm, and others who risked their lives to help people get to safety. Most of the dead haven't even been buried yet, and Pearce is already spitting on their memories so that he can look like a big tough He-Man on the internets. What a horrible, horrible human being.

It may not surprise you to learn that Mr. Pearce served in the Arizona National Guard during the Vietnam War.
He apparently wasn't too eager to confront an armed enemy either, even though Uncle Sam would have happily provided him with weapons of his own. Yet he expects the Colorado victims to somehow resist the armed and armored maniac with their bare hands.
