I'm pretty sure this is wishful thinking.

Let the people vote on civil rights, says the black man.
Unbe-fucking-lievable.

The bible has a whole bunch of verses about how wrong it is to marry outside your race, or your specific religion. These ministers don't seem to mind THAT.

There is not much risk of a big tide of support among African-Americans for Romney; the question is will it hurt turnout in what may be an extremely close election. Another factor to consider is that Obama needs a good turnout from other key parts of his coalition, young people and liberals, and adding a same sex marriage plank to the Democratic platform could help rekindle their enthusiasm, even if it turns off some religious African-Americans. And you should just do the right thing regardless of the electoral consequences, an idea that is foreign to the GOP.

Religious African-Americans need to realize they are becoming the useful idiots of the racist right wing that would see them return to second class citizens and consider the only acceptable role for a black man one that is a subservient step-n-fetch it like role. That's why the right wing loved Herman Cain (their view of an acceptable kind of black man with a thick comical southern accent, who sing songs out of the blue, praises Jesus, praises hard working old white folk and agrees with them that there are some good 'colored folks' but the rest are up to no good).

Another example of how short human being's memories are. It's less than fifty years since blacks were second class citizens, at best.

You would think these pastors would remember how horrible things were for them and wish better for other marginalized groups.

Shrugs. What you resist, you become.

It's ironic in the extreme to me that these pastors, 10-20 years from now, might just find themselves put in the same category as Bull Conner and George Wallace.
