Sterling Heights City Councilman Paul Smith under fire for offensive signs at 2009 Tea Party rally

During a Tea Party rally that year in Troy, Smith, who at the time was not an elected official, is shown on the video holding signs with an image of former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm with a noose around her neck and President Barack Obama with a spear through his skull.

“Hitler was a terrible guy but at least he wasn’t a traitor to Germany,” Smith said. “Obama is a traitor to America.”

What's his proof that Obama is a traitor to America? And no Smith you can't say his policies because you can be a communist and still be loyal to this country despite what your sorry ass believes. Really the TP looks more and more kooky when they have guys like this representing them.

Sheesh! These people are either complete savages or they are so far out of touch with reality they can't connect these images to real events. I have never seen anyone hanged, but I have seen actual heads impaled on actual stakes. Do the teabaggers think this kind of thing is a joke, or do they endorse this kind of total barbarism? Either way, they are not fit to be part of the civilized process of electoral politics.

Regretfully, that statement is literally true. I saw a lot in Vietnam, though not as much as some people. I have hoped every day since, and will hope every day for the rest of my life, that I never see them again.
